Junior certificate results

Malawi national examination board junior certificate results are out.

At FOMO INDEPENDENT SECONDARY SCHOOL, out of 61 students who sat down for the exams, 60 managed to pass. Speaking to the principle of the school, Mr. Butao said that, it is a good thing that many managed to pass as we were expecting all of them to pass the examination this year, and hopefully next year we will reach a 100% pass rate.

Classes have already started this term, and places are still available at the school.

Science lab project at FOMO INDEPENDENT SECONDARY SCHOOL is almost completed.

Mulanje Mag
Speaking to the administrator of FOMO Mr. Chitsulo said that “few touches are remaining to finalize all the work on the project” in a week time everything will be set and the school lab will be ready to be used. The funding of the project was raised by the help of Brendan rendall who had to run from Chitipa to Nsanje.

Due to the high need of the science lab blocks, just as soon as the construction is completed, they will be put in use and later on the will be a proper ceremony of opening of science lab.

FOMO Chole Centre

Builders working on the new shelter

FOMO Chole Centre is an orphan care center under construction, founded by Corps Africa, Friends of Mulanje orphans and the community of Chole.

The aim of this project is to provide shelter to the people, the children can also use this building to learn, do their activities, play and some times eat their meals, in the case that they might be a natural disaster like floods, the people of the village can also use this building. The beneficiaries of this construction are the mostly the people of the village mainly, the children and the youth.

As I was on the site of the construction, I talked to the constructor Wales Muhiwa, we walked around the project while he explained to me everything about the work going on, he said, by the end of this month all the work will be completed and this is so for the fact that all the materials are already available on the construction site and that the work is going in a good pace.

For the Chole project to be properly managed and maintained, their will be a work shop where by the people will be informed on how to take care and manage the building. The FOMO Management will also help in the management of the building.

FOMO Recording Studio

FOMO Recording Studio

With the aim of promoting music in Mulanje, FOMO Studio started a few years ago with the sponsorship from FOMO administration. Though it is an organization’s Studio (FOMO), they allow general public to come and record. FOMO studio is located in Mulanje district.

The main purpose, of which they decided to create a studio, is to record what happens at FOMO organization, for instance; what is new with its healthy department, or events happening in Chitakale Trading Center. The studio is a non-profit recording studio, but when people come they pay a little sum of money, which is collected and given to the administration, where it can be used for buying food and distributed to the FOMO centres.

FOMO Recording Studio
Although various people come to this studio, one of its workers named Seth complained that the majority of people do not know more about what they are supposed to do when they are in the studio  so they take time to teach them. Moreover it becomes difficult for them to be familiar with the instruments they use, in order to come up with their song,  he said while pointing at a micro phone.  Apart from waiting for outsiders to come and compose their songs, Seth goes to FOMO Centers like Kumwamba, Sazola, Namijingo, Chole, to shoot video and take audio clips. This activity is to encourage children from centers who are interested and posses the ability to sing, and compose songs.

‘‘Our desire is to put FOMO Studio on the map, we want to see people from various locations coming to their friendly studio, FOMO’’ Seth.
The studio opens Mondays to Saturdays from 7:30 in the morning to 4:30 in the evening. But on Saturday, the Studio opens from 7:30 in the morning to 12:00 afternoon
